Part 1:

Unmoderated Testing

Of the three different tests I feel that the first click testing would be most useful to implement. This type of testing allows for questioning that helps determine if the user is able to find the correct place to look for the information that the question refers to by clicking on the spot in the wireframe that demonstrates where they feel the information could be found.  This testing would allow me to see if the app that was created for flight planning would be useful to the pilot and right-side pilot to use. This testing method allows for the user to test the wireframe components to show that they would understand how to access the information and tools that they would need both pre-flight and during the flight. If the wireframe set up proves too difficult to navigate, it would then be changed based on the user feedback. This iterative process would be highly important, as the reason for the app was to increase the user’s enjoyment of flight through making flight planning and flight decisions easier. If the app wireframes demonstrate that the design is too difficult to navigate through, the user would possibly abandon its use or avoid flying as frequently. The results of this test would allow for adjustments in the design to be more user-friendly.  It would also assist in seeing what works well in the design of the app and would help see if there were areas of improvement. This method would be highly effective when the app is in the early stages and so the design could be easily changed based on the results.

Before we begin, can I ask how to pronounce your name correctly?

Thank you.

Act two: context questions

I hear that you are an amateur pilot, how long have you been flying? (context question)

What do you enjoy most about flying? (context question)

When you travel, do you ever use any apps to assist you with the planning of your trip? (context question)

Act 3: Intro to prototype

Would you be willing to look at our prototype app today? It is still in its early stages, but we would love to get your feedback!

How would you find it, in order to use it?

Act 4: Tasks

Our app is designed to help with flight planning. If you wanted to access it, how would you find this app? (task question)
