Issues to address: low near point vision, low light difficulty, memory difficulties
Recommendations for mobile accessibility app:
- Include a tablet version of the app that has a larger screen
- Break down each main category into a separate page of the app
- list most used pages first in the app
- Within each page, create separate areas for each bit of information
- Fit content for each page onto one screen to avoid having to swipe or scroll while flying
- Use large bullet points to highlight important points
- Use minimal colours and shades on each page with a consistent design and layout
- Include a day/night display
- Should have sufficient backlight to help with reading when necessary
- Include a built-in zoom feature for a text size scaling
- Avoid allow any fonts to be smaller than 1.5 mm
- Keep words and phrases on the app as simple as possible
- Use large and bolded fonts with looser than average tracking to increase legibility
- App should have a screen reader that will use voice synthesis to read aloud
- Use of a semantic markup to give a structure. This should include the purpose of each page element, the reading order, the hierarchical structure of the content and the content.
